The evening kicked off with the energetic opener, The Concrete Family, which featured four talented artists - Draft Day, Dc2Trill, Karrabooo, and 31camo. Their performances were high-energy, with Draft Day delivering hits like "Close 2 the Sun" and "ON THE RISE," while Dc2Trill pumped up the crowd with tracks like "LeftHerOnSeen" and "B.R.A Freestyle." After The Concrete Family finished their set, the stage was graced by the soulful and somewhat unexpected presence of Nick Hakim. While his more folk-soul and psychedelic-infused music may not have been what fans were initially anticipating after such a high-energy first performer, his performance was a very refreshing surprise. He opened with Green Twins and closed with Cuffed, showcasing his unique style and leaving a solid impression on the audience.
As the venue's music faded out, the lights dimmed, and the smoke machines began to work their magic. The individual members of Lil Yachty's band walked onto the stage, accompanied by mesmerizing and almost psychedelic graphics in the backdrop. The anticipation in the air was palpable as the graphics welcomed everyone to the show. The performance kicked off with "drive ME crazy," where the lead female vocalists snatched everyone’s attention from the graphics. A minute into the song Lil Yachty made his nonchalant entrance, captivating the audience with his charisma and vocals.
Following his opening song, Lil Yachty seamlessly transitioned into "the ride," a track featuring backing vocals by Teezo Touchdown and an enthralling psychedelic trance-like keyboard piece and beat. The reverberation of the music echoed throughout the venue as Yachty then launched into "pRETTy," delivering one of the most floaty and dreamlike moments of the evening. Lil Yachty's performance featured a perfectly balanced set, alternating between high-energy bangers that encouraged the crowd to mosh and slower-paced, more vocally-driven songs. including my personal favorite, Broccoli, which was the first song that introduced me to him back in High School, so it holds a special slot in my favorites by Yachty.
In conclusion, Lil Yachty's show in Salt Lake City was a high-octane, multi-faceted experience that showcased his versatility as an artist and his ability to connect with his audience. If you're a fan of Lil Yachty or just in search of an unforgettable live music experience, don't miss the remaining shows on "The Field Trip Tour," which is set to conclude by mid-December.
