Doc. Henry “Babyface” Single Review
Written by Esosa Zuwa
Tennessee and Berlin-based, Olivia Rose, also known by their name Doc. Henry, drops her newest single album, debuting ‘Babyface’, a song from their upcoming EP. Rose encompasses her experience living in Oklahoma, Tennessee, Berlin, and London all in her DIY production and performances.
‘Babyface’ is an experimental track that opens with an electric guitar riff and the frequency of amp playback, growing more and more intense with a small kick drum beat. The song goes into full force in its indie rock melody, inspired by a shoegaze backdrop. It is a theme song to the interesting time when Rose’s friend, Carson Lystad, asked to make music with them, which prompted Rose to move into his basement and get a job alongside him. ‘Babyface’ is also co-produced by Josef Kuhn.
‘Babyface’ feels like working hard towards your dreams, no matter how unconventional the path is. It’s a strong single for an EP and has a sense of feeling free with the melodies.
