Lonely Heights X Fresh Off The Scene

How did you guys form your band and the name?

We were driving downtown Salt Lake City, on the way to our first-ever photoshoot with photographer; Tristan Sadler! We were trying to think of a name, throwing out ideas- some close contenders were “Tents on Fire”, or “The Helpless”, but eventually, Kaiden (singer) shouted “Lonely Hearts Club” as we passed a sign that said that. Dan, miss-heard and asked “What’s Lonely Heights”, and the band all looked at each other and decided, “Lonely Heights” could be a great band name, with the theme of “in order to make it to the top, you have to make sacrifices/ it’s lonely at the top.” and thus “Lonely Heights” was born.

What's the inspiration behind your upcoming single GROW-UP?

Being a rock band, we needed a 2-minute punk banger, and here it is. Fast, upbeat, short and sweet. “Grow Up” was inspired by roommate struggles, immaturity, and negative attitudes. Getting to the point where you are so worked up, that you finally pop, and just scream “GROW UP!”.

What message do you hope to convey with the new single?

Our new single “Grow Up” is a fun, quick, punk anthem that conveys a feeling of angst, anger, and destruction! The idea of finally exploding, saying what needs to be said, and letting it all out.

With the punk scene on the rise, how do you guys hope to contribute?

We hope to contribute more and more to the punk scene, bringing more people together, and introducing newcomers to the scene by mixing in heavy punk songs with our more popular indie rock hits, like Deeper. The more mosh pits we can start, the better. We love to create a space where people can come together, let loose, and jump around and we hope to do that on bigger and bigger stages!

With you guys going on tour, what songs are you most excited to play for some potential first-time listeners?

We can't wait to showcase all of our original music on Tour! Particularly our best Hits, “Deeper, Okay & Carnival”. We also have a new song that we will be testing out on this tour “Mirrors” which could become our new biggest hit!

Being from Utah, how does being born and raised here play a part in your guy's music and sound?

4 of the members are from Utah, and one (myself) is an outsider from North Carolina. Our songs don't particularly have any lyrics that are directly associated with Utah, however, the feeling of oppression is underlined within-

If you guys had to switch instruments and roles within the band, what would you pick, and who would you pick to switch with?

It’s actually quite funny, we all play every instrument. Duke (our drummer) being the most well-rounded, and proficient in Bass, Drums, Vocals, and Guitar. If I were to switch from Bass, I would probably play Electric Guitar, however, I think Drums are the most fun to play.

If there was a band/artist you could collaborate with (dead or alive), who would it be and why?

It would be awesome to work with Panic! At the Disco. One of our favorite bands. I think Kaiden’s voice and Brendon Urie’s would sound great together.

If you could go against one band in a battle of the bands, (Scott Pilgrim style) who would it be?

Would be cool to go back and forth in a battle with the Red Hot Chile Peppers or Rage Against the Machine, super high energy, and Kaiden could rap against them too! Shreddy solos, crazy bass lines- it would be a show!

Is there anything more that fans can look forward to in terms of tour, merch, singles, and albums?

The Lonely Heights “Not So Lonely Tour” is going to be awesome, we have new originals, new covers, new tour merch, and a couple of big surprises in California! Also, keep an eye out for our new singles “RIP” and “Mirrors” dropping in the next 3-4 months!
