Kayla DiVenere's X Fresh Off The Scene Q&A

Interview by Jordyn Ward and photos by lilis35mm

How’s it going Kayla nice to meet you my names Jordyn Ward thanks for taking the time to answer a few questions about the new release

Hi Jordyn!!! So nice to meet you and thank you so much for having me!

In your opinion, what are the three essentials to a Kayla DiVenere song and how did you find that style?

The three essentials to a Kayla DiVenere song are:

1. Nostalgic vibes

2. Guitar!

3. At least one anthemic/hard-hitting lyric

I found this style by truly just experimenting and figuring out what I liked. I also believe that the environment of my life and what I listened to back from a 6-year-old all the way up to now heavily influenced what I like to create.

With lyrical elements like “I’ll do whatever that you want just like your soldier, come wipe away what came before you I don’t want her… I see your stars I go blind” being heavily inspired by Americana and the modern age state of being in love and what that entails. How would you explain your relationship with the feeling of romantic love?

I've been lucky enough to experience the wide ranges of love, as well as the not-so-pretty ones. I think because love is such a strong feeling if the pendulum swings one way too deep, it can be dangerous. In Blue Jean Baby, I wanted to focus on the blinding aspects of love... How it feels to be so in love that you'll do anything, be anything, say anything, believe anything...

In the rollout of “Blue Jean Baby” your socials consisted of a variety of blue Jean-inspired outfits. How has this left an impact on your personal style?

Dressing in Blue Jean Baby-inspired outfits really reminded me how timeless, effortless, and classic blue jeans are. They literally look good with ANYTHING and I've been implementing them way more in my everyday style.

With lyrical prowess widely appreciated, is there a for sure best way to write a catchy hook and what is it?

I'm a nerd and I like to think of a hook as a thesis statement of an essay. The best way to write a catchy hook is simplicity, efficiency, and repetition, all while getting your most important points across.

Your new single blue Jean Baby is highly reminiscent of sounds recognizable in 80s - 90s rom coms and as an artist with a career also dipping into acting what is the best movie to pair with this new single coming out?

LOVE this question. I think Blue Jean Baby would fit perfectly in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood by Quentin Tarantino.

In the process of writing this song did you find a lyric you feel is going to resonate with audiences? What is it and what about it do you feel has the ability to ring with listeners?

In the outro of Blue Jean Baby, I say "Music's still alive, singing hello hello my American pie...". I wanted to pay homage to Miss American Pie by Don McLean, so hopefully this resonates with people and strikes that nostalgic chord that I intend it to.

Why do you think that the art form of a love song is so prominent globally in music and what do you feel is the purpose of this sub-genre of music?

I think love songs are so popular because of their relatability. Love is around us everywhere, even if it's not a romantic kind of love, it's something that everyone has felt before at least once in their lives. Love is what brings us and connects us together, it is the glue of all humanity and is SO important.

With a few amazing singles being released such as “Small Talk” and “Date Myself” what is the hope and dream and what do we have to look forward to next in the career of Kayla DiVenere?

My hope and dream is to be able to connect and reach people through my music, to positively impact anyone in any way possible, and to change the vibes of anyone's day with a simple song. Lots of new music and live shows to look forward to :)

I also Just wanted to say thank you so much for these questions! They were really interesting and cool, not typical and I love that!
