Shaky Knees 2024
Written by Madison Sharp
Shaky Knees is back in Atlanta for the 11th year, and I couldn’t be more excited! This three-day festival is taking place in ATL’s Central Park and the lineup for 2024 is absolutely STACKED! Starting Friday, May 3rd, this fest will bring all alternative music lovers together for an incredible weekend of fun, friendship, and freshness
One thing that makes this event stand out amongst other Atlanta concerts is the overwhelming sense of community. Compared to other festivals like Music Midtown, Shaky Knees is a much calmer festival that makes you feel like you’re home, even if you’ve traveled far and wide to attend. I cannot recommend this fest enough, and if you can make the trek down to Atlanta, you WON’T be sorry!
Day one is starting strong with Noah Khan headlining. So many other insane acts are kicking off Friday, like Arcade Fire, Young the Giant, Interpol, The Revivalists, Yves Tumor, and Metric. Personally, I'm so excited for All Them Witches, and seeing them at Shaky in 2016 got me obsessed with grunge rock (again). Other artists for Friday include Switchfoot, Del Water Gap, Pond, Psychedelic Porn Crumpets, and Ax and the Hatchetmen. No doubt this will be one of the most crowded days of the festival, and what a way to start a kick-ass weekend.
Saturday’s headliner Queens of the Stone Age is not only a music industry giant but has headlined Shaky Knees quite a few times, and they never disappoint. Along with QOTSA, we’ve got The Offspring, Girl in Red, Holly Humberstone, Chicano Batman, and Microwave. A few other acts I am super stoked about on Saturday are Blondshell, Tigercub, Pool Kids, and Grace Cummings. SK does a great job of including so many subsects of alternative music all in one fest.
Finally, on Sunday, the weekend is wrapping up with the incomparable Foo Fighters to headline the last day of the fest. Along (Everlong lol) with FF, Sunday will bring us Billy Idol, Portugal the Man, Men I Trust, Dinosaur Jr, Waxahatchee, Matt and Kim, and The Struts. What a way to end a wonderful weekend!
Tim Sweetwood (Shaky Knees founder) and local royalty, can’t stop FEEDING US YEAR AFTER YEAR! This festival is so fun and it’s one you won’t want to miss! Let us know which artist you’re most excited to see. I cannot wait for another year of amazing music in my hometown! SHAKY KNEES FOREVER!
