If you’re looking for something to do this Memorial Day weekend look no further than the Movement Festival held in Hart Plaza right in the middle of downtown Detroit, MI. All of my EDM, funk, Hip hop, and just overall music fans will undoubtedly love this event that has been a staple in the Detroit music industry since 2006.
Throughout the years Detroit has always been a place for EDM fans to look towards for a great time which makes complete sense seeing as it is the home and birthplace of the techno genre. There have been many electronic dance festivals that have taken place but none have left their mark the way the Movement Festival has in the community. Featuring alumni such as Deadmau5, Shawn Michaels Minx, Fatboy Slim, Skrillex, Dillon Francis, Action Bronson, Big Freedia, RZA, Thundercat, Stacy Pullen, Marissa Guzman and so many more! This event has been nominated for awards as big as Festival of the Year from the Electronic Music Awards and is held in such high regard for good reason. You ask any music festival lover in Michigan what festivals their most excited about this year and guarantee Movement Fest will be on their list.
This year the event is being hosted May 25th-27th and at the moment, with the lineup still being announced, it is stacked! Featuring artists like Honey Dijon, Boys Noize w Vtss, Avalon Emerson, Fatboy Slim, DJ Minx, Jaguar, Idris Elba and so many more.
